![]() IME, quality support is worth more than saving a few bucks or even a few minor feature differences. OTOH, 1Password support was more responsive and seemed to be genuinely interested in ideas to make the product better. Dashlane's support was okay (MUCH better than LastPass) but they didn't seem too receptive to feedback. So I started trials of Dashlane and 1Password and during those trials, I reached out to both. The final straw came when they gave me advice on what to do that almost locked me out of my family account! □ But it was also obvious they weren't reading my messages, as their responses had questions for info that I already gave. Part of the problem was there was a 1–2 day delay for each of their responses. The bug itself wasn't a deal-breaker, but when I contacted support about it, it turned into an exhausting month-long exchange. I used LastPass for years without any issues and then I came across a bug. Lastpass never had a well thought out UI, but due to grabbing a lot of the market share first, they never seemed pressured to improve.īe sure to consider quality of support in your decision. ![]() For me 1Password was a very significant improvement in useability, but other offerings out there also were quite a bit better. It's not difficult to use, but everything takes 3 more clicks than it should. I have used it for at least 10 years and keep kicking myself for not switching earlier. Having said that, if you find that 1Password cannot satisfy your needs, Lastpass is not really the best alternative (IMO). When I do need it (when 1Password is not doing it automatically), I usually have to google the instructions despite knowing that the feature is there. In most other managers this is available from a right click menu and/or top level extension menu. I do wish a manual (site independent) "generate password" button and options were more accessible. You can customize the length and other qualities of your password if needed. ![]() Improvements are made all the time, and there's no one on this end that will ever be against a typical "hey, you need to improve this or that" kind of message. I should note that the final link there is always available if you need it, and we're always around to chat if you're having an issue with something. But it's also possible that you were using the older classic extension which is why I bring it up at all. If it didn't, let us know and we can actually just go in and fix it. If you were using 1Password in your browser, it should have generated and filled a password that's compatible with the service you were using. The first point you brought up is the hardest one to address, since every site and service has different password requirements (if they have them at all). I'm not super familiar with LastPass, but I'd imagine they support the same thing if they have a modern iOS application. This one actually applies to iCloud Keychain, as well, since either way you're using the system that's built directly into iOS and tvOS. I've got two Apple TVs in my house, and typically, Password AutoFill works to get passwords from your iPhone or iPad up onto the TV. The guide there goes over what the Secret Key is and what it's used for, but in short, it's the main reason why I started using 1Password in the first place (before I started working for them). The same thing applies to your web browser, although if you have your web browser set to clear any and all data when you close it, you'll be asked for it again upon reopening it. Your Secret Key is only required the first time that you log into your 1Password account on a new device. I do, however, want to clear a few things up: ![]() I won't try to influence your decision about which password manager you should use since that's a very personal choice. Is there a way to keep all my passwords synced between edge, chrome, iPhone, Windows, and Apple TV now? Or should I cancel.Īlso, does lastpass need a long security key every time you login? I don't really use a mac computer, so the new electron app isn't an issue for me, so I'm wondering if I should keep it, or ditch it. Well last year they added sync with keychain, and I thought that would help but keychain still doesn't exactly work on the Apple TV very well. For a while now I have just been remembering passwords but it is time I changed some of them. It was difficult to change your password and then be able to log in to your AppleTV apps. The other thing I didn't like is that you have to lookup your security key and type in 30 characters to get in the website. Once that happened, I kind of quit changing passwords for a while. The auto-generate feature was not great, it couldn't fulfill the maximum password length requirements that some sites I use had. The thing is, I never really got it working with all my passwords. I have been using, well kinda using 1Password for about 3 years.
