![]() I simply "select" a movie on my cellphone, and "Beam" it to my HTPC. For example I can browse my "Movie collection" using my Android DLNA applications "Twonky Beam" and "Media House" are both excellent for example, and then stream them to XBMC HTPC in my Livingroom. I can access my TwonkyMedia Server on NASTY2 from my Android Smartphone, so I can "beam" my Video content from Twonkymedia on my NAS, directly to the "any" of my XBMC "Renders" on my network. For XBMC clients on my network I have multiple Classic Xboxes running XBMC4Xbox, I also have XBMC running on several Windows machines, Linux machines, Raspberry Pi's, & Android Tablets. Throughout this post I have referred to "XBMC Clients" without being very specific about hardware etc. Under Music in XBMC I create entries for "smb://NASTY2/Multimedia/Audio/Music". Under Pictures in XBMC I create entries for "smb://NASTY2/Multimedia/Pictures/Patrick", "smb://NASTY2/Multimedia/Pictures/Vacation" etc. For example under Videos in XBMC I create entries for "smb://NASTY2/Multimedia/Video/Movies" and "smb://NASTY2/Multimedia/Video/TVShows". Here is a graphic representation of my Multimedia share on "NASTY2":Ĭode: Select all tree -d -L 2 /share/Multimedia /share/Multimedia ├── Audio │ └── Music ├── eBooks ├── Pictures │ ├── Prudence │ ├── Kids │ ├── Patrick │ └── Vacation ├── Video │ ├── Home Movies │ ├── Internet │ ├── Movies │ ├── Music Videos │ ├── Stand Up Comedy │ └── TVShows └── XBMC └── Thumbnails On my XBMC Clients, I create "smb" links to my NAS. In order to make file management on my NAS easy to do, I have sub-divided my "Multimedia" share into several subdirectories, so that I can keep my media content organized. My XBMC "Clients" can access all my media content that same way. NASTY2 has a "Multimedia" share on it, which can be accessed from anywhere on my network, by simply browsing to "smb://NASTY2/Multimedia/". My NAS is known in my Workgroup as "NASTY2". Perhaps it would be easier to explain if I provided an example of what I'm talking about. Simply create a new "Source" under Videos on your XBMC setup, that points to subdirectories within your "Multimedia" share on your NAS. You can also still do it old-school, and simply get XBMC clients to connect to your NAS "Multimedia" Share via SMB protocol. You can even use your Smartphone, to "Beam" Multimedia from your Twonkymedia Server on your NAS to your XBMC "Render" on your XBMC device. (eg Twonkymedia DLNA/UPnP Server on NAS can steam to XBMC clients on your network). XBMC is a both DLNA/UPnP Render & Server (if configured) so you can use any of the numerous DLNA/UPnP clients and/or servers on your NAS to stream your "Multimedia" to/from your NAS to/from XBMC. Perhaps if you were clearer in your "question" and/or subject line I would have provided the answer you were looking for. There are multiple ways of accessing your "Multimedia" stored on your NAS on XBMC Clients. so that is what I provided an answer for. Your subject line, and message wording seemed to ask about install XBMC on TS-469.
